CCAC Meeting Highlights Available
The Center City Advisory Committee advises both the CCDC and the City Council on issues which affect those of us who live and/or work downtown. The Committee meets on the third Thursday of each month. Marina District Representative, David Priver, a CFT resident, issues monthly reports that can be accessed from this website. Many downtown residents are complaining about the continuing train noise. The latest update from projects yet another year's delay in the implementation of a "Quiet Zone." Original target: Summer 2006. Revised targets: Summer 2007, 2008 and 2009. Latest target: Summer 2010.
Below is some information on how you can help CCDC work with the FRA (Federal Railway Agency) and BNSF (Burlington Northern Santa Fe) to control the current problem and speed up the process of obtaining "Quiet Zone" status:
What you can do:
A. To better document our sleepless nights, please email the following information on each incident to with a copy to Erica Mendelson at
1. Time of incident 2. Direction of train travel 3. Train engine number 4. Type of noise, noise sequence, or duration.
If you have the ability to video the incident with sound and date, even better.
This information will be compiled by Council District 2 staff and forwarded to the FRA and BNSF.
